OUR LOVE STORY
Hayden and Erin first met in 2015 working campus security at UC Davis, but were only acquaintances, never sharing more than a few words with one another.
Nearly two years later, Hayden decided to reach out to Erin hoping to strike up a conversation. Over the next three months, one message became numerous texts and a four hour phone call. The two spoke around the clock, despite the three hour time difference between Michigan and California.
Erin returned to California for her final semester at school. On September 19, 2017 at a restaurant called Bottle and Barlow they had their first date. They spent three months attending concerts and eating their way through Sacramento. Erin graduated and returned to Michigan. Still smitten with Erin, Hayden visited for New Year's and met the rest of her family who, in true Michigan fashion, warmly welcomed him by taking him to the Grand Haven Pier.
Shortly after his return to Sacramento, Hayden determined he couldn’t stand being apart any longer. He secured a job in Grand Rapids, packed up, and drove across the country non-stop to be with her. They spent every second they could together even though Erin spent most of the summer interning in Northern Michigan. They also welcomed a new family member that summer: a Mini Schnauzer they named Barlow in honor of their first date. He joined them as they explored the many beautiful sights Michigan and Kentucky had to offer. They ended the summer with another visit to the lake, this time with much warmer weather.
Fall arrived and Hayden suggested another visit to the lake. It was October 7th, 2018 when Hayden got down on one knee and proposed at the exact spot where the first picture was taken. The happy couple looks forward to beginning their life together on July 9, 2021.
